Edamattom is a small place located 6 km southeast of Pala. Most of the people here are farmers with several others having migrated to the cities. Majority of the people of Edamattom are hard working Syrian Catholics. Landmarks include the St.Michael's Church. Also the St.Alphonsa Church at Bharananganam is only a few kilometers away. Sreemoolam Praja Sabha of Travancore was the First Legislative Council for a Native state in the whole of India. The Chieftain of Puthuppallil Nair Tharavad ,at Edamattom, Late Sri.P.K.Narayana Pillai was an illustrious member of Sreemoolam Praja Sabha. He also served as the Founder President of Meenachil Taluk Samajam. Late Sri. A.C.Kuriakose MLA and Kodanadu Rama Varma Raja served under him as Secretary and Treasurer respectively of Taluk Samajam. Puthuppallil Sri.P.K.Narayana Pillai established NSS Karayogam No.363 and also served as its Founder President. Varakappallil Kesava Pillai was the founder secretary of the Karayogam.
