1960s: borrowed from Italian panzerotto, a derivative of central and southern panza, variant of standard pancia (“belly”), after its swollen shape.

- A type of large ravioli made from pizza dough, filled with various ingredients such as ricotta (または mozzarella), tomato sauce and ham, and deep-fried. A specialty of Apulia and Campania.
