使用する際の注意点

Before 1993, the ringgit was represented by the dollar sign ($ or M$), reflecting its pre-1975 English name "Malaysian dollar". From 1993 onwards, the abbreviation "RM" (ringgit Malaysia, "Malaysian ringgit") is used to represent the currency.

In spite of these historical changes, in colloquial speech, "dollar" is still used to refer to Malaysian ringgit.
