- (biblical) A flower of uncertain kind: perhaps Pancratium maritimum, which grows on the Sharon Plain of the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
- Hypericum calycinum, an evergreen flowering shrub native to southeast Europe and southwest Asia.
- Synonyms: great St. John's-wort, Jerusalem star, (in one of its senses) Aaron's beard
- Hibiscus syriacus, a deciduous flowering shrub native to east Asia, and a national emblem of South Korea.
