The Battle of Rafa (officially referred to by the British as the "Action of Rafah,") took place on 9 Janaury 1917 at el Magruntein near Rafa on the frontier between the Sultanate of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula and the Ottoman Empire, in the area to the north and east of Sheikh Zowa'id. It was the third and final engagement mounted by the British Empire forces in the Sinai during the Sinai and Palestine Campaign of the First World War. The attacking force defeated Ottoman Empire defenders entrenched in a series of redoubts.| 意味 |
