Ecgric was a 7th-century king of East Anglia, the Anglo-Saxon kingdom that today includes the English counties of Norfolk and Suffolk. Ecgric and his Christian kinsman Sigeberht ruled jointly, with Ecgric ruling the northern part, until Sigeberht retired to his monastery at Beodricesworth in c. 634, after which Ecgric then ruled alone. In c. 636 both kings were killed together, in a battle defending East Anglia from a Mercian military assault.| 意味 |
