The Miss Mundo Dominicana 2009 was hand-picked by the Organization of Miss Dominican Republic and the franchiser responsible to send a Dominican representative to the Miss World 2009 beauty pageant. The Miss Mundo Dominicana 2009 pageant was postponed due to lack of money and sponsors. Instead they hand-picked the Miss Republica Domincana Universo 2009 first runner-up, Ana Rita Contreras Sosa from Bayaguana, Monte Plata.
