Timur Askarovich Kulibayev (Kazakh: Тимур Асқарұлы Құлыбаев; Russian: Тимур Аскарович Кулибаев, born September 10, 1966) is a large Kazakhstani public figure, and son-in-law of Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev. Kulibayev has held several positions in important state-owned enterprises that manage Kazakhstan's natural resources, and has immense influence over the country's hydrocarbon industry. He is currently the deputy head of the state holding company Samruk-Kazyna and is chairman of the board of directors for Kazatomprom, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, and KazMunaiGas. Kulibayev is often mentioned as a possible successor to Nazarbayev, however, as well as other relatives and associates of the current President.
