Becta (formerly known as the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency) was a non-departmental public body (popularly known as a Quango)] funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, in the UK It was a charity and a company limited by guarantee. In the post-election spending review in May 2010, it was announced that Becta was to be abolished. The organisation went into liquidation in April 2011 following its funding from government ceasing in March 2011.
