「colloquial」は、日常的な会話で使われる言葉や表現を指す。正式な場ではなく、友人との会話や日常生活の中で使われる言葉を指すことが多い。
colloquial expression(口語表現)、colloquial term(口語的な語句)、colloquial language(口語)など。
1. "She uses a lot of colloquial expressions in her writing."(彼女の文章には口語表現が多く使われている)
2. "I find it hard to understand his colloquial language."(彼の口語は理解するのが難しい)
3. "The word is more colloquial than formal."(その言葉は正式よりも口語的だ)
「spoken language」は、書き言葉と対比されることが多く、口頭でのコミュニケーションに使われる言葉を指す。一般的に、口語と同じく日常的な会話で使われる言葉を指すが、必ずしも非公式な文脈に限定されるわけではない。
spoken language skills(話し言葉のスキル)、spoken language processing(話し言葉の処理)、natural spoken language(自然な話し言葉)など。

「vernacular」は、特定の地域や社会集団で使われる日常的な言葉を指す。地域性や文化的な特性を強く反映した言葉を指すことが多い。
