1. (US) A visa granted to foreign workers that allows them to be hired by American companies for nonagricultural occupations.

     In May, a proclamation was issued specifically targeting Chinese nationals and denying them F and J visas used to attend graduate and postgraduate programs in the US. Trump’s new action suspends the issuance of new visas H-1B visas for professional workers; H-2Bs for non-agricultural seasonal workers, J-1s for cultural exchanges and L-1s for intracompany transfers.

     The order prohibits foreign workers from using H-1B, H-2B, J-1 and L-1 visas to enter the United States until at least the end of the year. […] H-2B visas are for unskilled seasonal workers, including landscapers, forestry workers and summer resort workers, while J-1s are for exchange visitors who come for short stays, typically for summer work, brief internships or to be au pairs.
