ICASE 2009 is the International Conference on Aerospace Science and Engineering. The objective of the conference was to establish dialogues leading to long lasting, healthy technical cooperation amongst the aerospace, communication and materials scientists and engineers of the developing and developed countries. Senior dignitaries, scientists and researchers from academia and research and development were present on the occasion. The secretary of the conference, Dr A. A. Mazhar, highlighted the agenda of the conference while Imran Rehman, the vice chancellor of IST, outlined the scope of the conference. Researchers from the US, Italy, South Africa, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Bangladesh and the Ukraine also attended the conference. There were fifteen keynote lectures, 29 contributory talks and 48 posters in the conference. The conference had distinguished speakers from academia, universities, the aerospace and satellite industry and national/international research and development organizations. The major topics of the conference included Aerospace Propulsion, Aerodynamics, Structures and Control Systems, Space Communication, Telemetry, Tele-command and Monitoring Systems, Development and Production of Materials for Aerospace applications and Ancillary Space Technology topics including Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Sciences (GIS) etc. ICASE would have a remarkable effect on the progression of aerospace science and engineering in Pakistan. The Institute of Space Technology is the pioneer institute in providing education related to space technology. This conference is proposed to be a biennial event to provide international fora at which scientists and engineers can remain current with recent developments in high performance aerospace materials, space communication techniques, design and construction of space systems/structures, and so on.
