Poffertjes (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈpɔfərtjəs] (
listen)) are a traditional Dutch batter treat. Resembling small, fluffy pancakes, they are made with yeast and buckwheat flour. Unlike American pancakes, they have a light, spongey texture. Typically, poffertjes are served with powdered sugar and butter.
