A concept described by Douglas Adams in his acclaimed Hitchhiker's Guide 'trilogy', the SEP Field was developed by scientists who had originally intended to develop generators capable of rendering an object or area fully invisible, though these scientists later settled short for the SEP generator, which requires far less energy to operate since it functions by convincing people that the area or object is 'somebody else's problem', to which people respond by convincing themselves that the object or area is invisible.
