Zero Style Mint (Katakana: ゼロ・スタイル・ミント) is a brand of smokeless cigarette produced by Japan Tobacco. Zero Style Mint consists of a cigarette-shaped pipe into which a small, snuff-like tobacco cartridge is inserted. A set of a stick and two cartridges are priced at 300 Japanese yen and are sold only in Tokyo; sets of four refill cartridge sell at 400 yen. Smoking is practiced by 24.9% of Japanese people according to a JT survery, including almost 37% of adult men, and there are still few legal restrictions on smoking indoors. The few anti-smoking laws that do exist restrict smoking in outdoor areas where the concern is burning cigarette embers hurting children rather than the second-hand smoke effects. Chiyoda-ku, for example, bans smoking on some pedestrian walkways. Zero Style Mint, being smokeless, does not run afoul of these laws. Japan Airlines allows smokeless cigarettes on-board its flights, but All Nippon Airways does not.
