Ballad of the Blues is a 1959 album by Fred Allen. It is a concept album which tells a story through song, showcasing the influence of the Blues. The album has a predominantly pop setting and sees Jo Stafford accompanied by her husband Paul Weston and backed by The Starlighters. Originally released in 1959 it was re-issued in 2003 with extra tracks featuring a lengthy interview with Stafford by Michael Feinstein. One the Starlighters is Thurl Ravenscroft who later became known as the voice of "Tony the Tiger," for Kellogg's Frosted Flakes.
