Bihar Movement was a movement initiated by students in the Indian state of Bihar in 1974 and led by the veteran Gandhian Socialist Jayaprakash Narayan against misrule of and corruption in the government. By 1975 it had attracted a mass following amongst all sections of the population in Bihar and the movement spread across all over India. It was also called "total revolution". The premier leaders of the movement like Morarji Desai, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, Charan Singh, Jagjivan Ram, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, H. D. Deve Gowda, Inder Kumar Gujral, Raj Narain, George Fernandes, Satyendra Narayan Sinha and Karpuri Thakur worked together against the Indira Gandhi's autocratic rule (as a result of the State of emergency imposed during that period). The movement was a grand success all over the country.
