Hamilton Lane is an independent, employee-owned private equity firm with more than $100 billion in total assets under management and supervision (As of March 31, 2011). Hamilton Lane is headquartered outside of Philadelphia and has offices in London, Hong Kong, San Francisco, San Diego, New York, Fort Lauderdale, Tel Aviv, Tokyo and Singapore. The firm was founded in 1991 as a private equity advisory firm for large public pension plans. In 1998, Hamilton Lane gained its first separate account client and in the same year launched its first fund-of-funds product. In 2003, the ownership of Hamilton Lane was restructured to accommodate an external investment and redistribute the ownership of Hamilton Lane to a broader group of the firm’s employees. Hamilton Lane currently has more than 150 employees.
