Larry Stone is the County Assessor of Santa Clara County. He was first elected in 1975 to the City Council of the City of Sunnyvale. After serving for 16½ years, including two terms as Mayor, he was elected in 1994 to serve as County Assessor for the County of Santa Clara, California for a four-year term representing not only the Capitol of Silicon Valley, but also the seventeenth largest county in the United States, encompassing more than 1,300 square miles (3,400 km²) and 1.8 million people. The county includes the cities of Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Jose, Santa Clara, Saratoga, and Sunnyvale. He has been reelected by large majorities in 1998, 2002, 2006, and 2010.
