Mobile17 is a "ringtone maker" website that enables users to create mobile content (such as ringtones and graphics) at no-charge. When initially launched in 2005, it sported the name "SmashTheTones." After being featured on the now defunct TechTV's "The Screen Savers" and reviewed in Sarah Lane's "Damn Good Download" weekly segment, the site was revamped and the project's name matured from "SmashTheTones" to "Mobile17."
