During the 1930s, Zeiss Ikon made a wide range of miniature cameras for the 35 mm film format. Most cameras had the 24×36mm frame size: the Contax, Nettax and Super Nettel is such examples. However, the ability to take images in fast sequence was a popular marketing element at the time, and several fast acting models were made. Among these were perhaps the Robot that was made by Otto Berning & Co. in Schwelm, Westphalia and the Zeiss Ikon Tenax II among the better-known examples. These have the smaller square format, enabling faster film advancement, either manually or motorised.
