1)「列,テープの列」テープの長手方向に垂直な直線上にあって,1組のビットが同時に記録されるかまたは検出される部分.記録密度が25.4mm当たり1600ビット以下の磁気テープにおいては,1列が1文字に対応する.
2)ハイレベル伝送制御手順(HDLC)に従って,コマンドやレスポンス,その他の情報を転送するのに用いる,8ビットの整数倍から成る連続したビット列.各フレームの前後には,特定のビットパターンすなわちフラグが付けられる.8ビットのビット列から成る転送単位をオクテットという.
3)「表示枠」表示画面上において,表示画像を記録することができる領域.
4)文書編集において,文書中にとられる長方形の領域.
5)「フレーム」エキスパートシステムにおける知識表現を構成する一つの単位.
利用者データ及び制御データの伝送のために,あらかじめプロトコルによって決められたフィールドからなるデータ構造.
〈備考〉フレームの構成,特に,フィールドの個数及び種類は,プロトコルの種類によって異なってもよい.
