Yavanika (Malayalam: യവനിക, translation: When the curtain falls) is a 1982 Malayalam film, co-written and directed by K. G. George, and starring Bharath Gopi, Mammootty and Jalaja. Yavanika stands out as an aesthetic and commercially successful film of the 1980s. In the form of a detective thriller, Yavanika explores backstage drama of a traveling Drama group. Yavanika won the Kerala State award for best film. It was one of the first notable films of Mammootty, who later turned out to be one of the biggest actors of all time in Indian Cinema. He won the Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actor, for his brilliant portrayal of Sub Inspector Jacob Eeraly.
