   • 1912, Hamlyn-Harris, Ronald, Queensland Museum, Memoirs of the Queensland Museum‎, page 255:

     Promegistus armstrongi Womersley is the sole member of the Promegistidae. Womersley (1958) originally placed this unusual mite in the Paramegistidae, which it resembles in the smooth dorsum fringed with setae, fragmented sternal shield and hypertrichous ventrianal shield.
