From *angus, anger-; -ōna (suffix forming names of goddesses); the first element is probably an unattested neuter s-stem *h₂enǵʰ-os from Proto-Indo-European *h₂enǵʰ- (“narrow, tight”), the root of angō (“to bind; distress”) and angustus (“narrow, constricted”).
