a form of biological therapy for superficial (not invasive) bladder cancer. the solution is made from a weakened form of the bacterium mycobacterium bovis (bacillus calmette-guerin) that does not cause disease but stimulates the body’s immune system. a catheter is used to place the bcg solution into the bladder where it is held for about two hours.

表在性（浸潤性ではない）膀胱がんに対する生物学的療法の一種。この溶液は病原性を弱めたmycobacterium bovis（カルメット-ゲラン桿菌）から作られ、これによって疾患が引き起こされることはないが、体の免疫系が刺激される。カテーテルを使って膀胱内にbcg溶液を注入し、その状態で2時間ほど維持する。
