CODASYL
CODASYL<conference on data systems languages>
事務処理用のデータシステム言語を幅広く研究・開発することを目的に,1959年5月,アメリカの国防総省にユーザとメーカーが集まり論議が行なわれ,この会議が母体となってCODASYLが設立された.CODASYLはCOBOLの開発先駆者として有名である.COBOL言語の開発にあたって,1960年5月にアメリカの政府出版局から,この会議にあてられた報告書によって,初めてCOBOL言語の概念が明らかにされた.この他,CODASYLは,情報代数,決定表(decision table)を用いたプログラミング言語のDETAB-Xを提案し,汎用データベース管理システムを検討する作業部会(DBTG)を下部組織として発足させた.

CODASYL (often spelled Codasyl ) is an acronym for "Conference on Data Systems Languages". This was a consortium formed in 1959 to guide the development of a standard programming language that could be used on many computers. This effort led to the development of COBOL and other standards.
