corticalis

1. (anatomy) The outer layer of an internal organ; cortex.

     Simultaneously the nucleus becomes more distinctly differentiated from the corticalis, by a more or less decided yellowish-brown color; its transparency, however, does not suffer to the same degree as that of the corticalis.

     Sometimes it was present within the normal ring of the corticalis and sometimes in a greatly expanded corticalis, extending also into the marrow cavity.
