Glanmire (Irish: Gleann Maghair) literally meaning ‘Valley of the plain', is a suburb in Metropolitan Cork, Ireland with a population of 15,498. "Glanmire" is used by residents of the area to mean the Greater Glanmire area, encompassing Riverstown (Baile Roisín), Brooklodge (Cill Ruadháin) and Sallybrook (Áth na Sailí) areas. These are all four semi-distinct adjacent villages with many facilities shared between them. There also is an area outside Glanmire called Upper Glanmire, which includes Whites Cross, Ballyphilip, Templemichael and Buck Leary's Cross.
