有毛細胞白血病に対する治療に用いられ、その他のがんに対する治療薬としても研究されている薬物の有効成分。nipentには細胞増殖に必要な蛋白の働きを阻害する作用があり、がん細胞を殺傷できる可能性がある。細菌により作られる。アデノシンデアミナーゼ阻害薬の一種である。「pentostatin（ペントスタチン）」とも呼ばれる。
