one of a group of cancers thatdevelop from the same type of early cells, and share certain biochemical andgenetic features. some pnets develop in the brain and central nervoussystem (cns-pnet), and others develop in sites outside of the brain such asthe limbs, pelvis, and chest wall (peripheral pnet). also called primitive neuroectodermal tumor.

同じ種類の細胞から発生して一部の生化学的特性や遺伝学的特性を共有する一群のがんの総称。pnetには、中枢神経系（脳と脊髄）に発生するもの（cns-pnet）と、四肢、骨盤、胸壁など中枢神経系以外の部位に発生するもの（末梢性pnet）がある。「primitive neuroectodermal tumor（原始神経外胚葉性腫瘍）」とも呼ばれる。
