Bob Sutton (born January 28, 1951) is the senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach for the New York Jets, under new head coach Rex Ryan. Previously, he was the defensive coordinator of the New York Jets from 2006-2008 after the dismissal of the Jets' former defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson. Prior to that he held the position of linebackers coach and was instrumental in molding Jonathan Vilma from a college superstar into an NFL superstar. Sutton has worked under four different head coaches since joining the Jets in 2000. He also coached the United States Military Academy football team, more well known as Army, in 1996 and got the team ranked 24th in the nation, winning the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award for best Division-I college coach in the nation.
