Red Gate Software is a software company based in Cambridge, UK. It primarily provides tools for database developers and administrators. In addition, through its Simple Talk Publishing subsidiary, it maintains community websites such as SQL Server Central and Simple Talk. In 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 it was featured in the Sunday Times '100 Best Companies to Work For' in the United Kingdom . It was founded by Neil Davidson and Simon Galbraith in October 1999. The company is named after Via Porta Rossa (Red Gate Street) in Florence, Italy, close to where Neil Davidson used to live.
