Sam Alessi was first elected to Whittlesea Council in 1987 and again in 1997. He has served three terms as City of Whittlesea Mayor in 1997/98; 1999/2000; and 2004/05. He is currently Deputy Chair of the Yarra Plenty Regional Library and Vice President of the Municipal Association of Victoria. He was educated at Moreland High School, La Trobe and Deakin Universities and the State College of Victoria and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences; a Bachelor of Education, a Diploma of Teaching and a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science. As a teacher, he has taught in a number of schools, including two City of Whittlesea schools - Greenbrook and Thomastown Meadows Primary Schools and served on both school councils. Married with two daughters, he enjoys photography, gardening, going to the beach and supporting the Melbourne Football Club.
