Samrajyam is a 1990 Malayalam gangster film co-written and directed by Jomon. Mammootty played the role of Alexander, a drug dealer and underworld don. A sequel to this film, titled The Son of Alexander and starring Mammootty, is in pre-production and will be directed by Amal Neerad. The film was a box-office super hit and it ran continuously for a year in the Geetha theatre, Kozhikode. The film had an excellent outing in Andhra Pradesh as well, when its dubbed version was released.
