The term the Three Marys (or Maries) refers to the three biblical Marys who came to the sepulchre of Jesus in the Gospels and were companions of Mary, the mother of Jesus. In Eastern Orthodoxy they are known as the Myrrhbearers, and traditionally include a larger number of people. All four gospels include a mention of the incident, but only Mark (16:1) identifies all three. In the verse, the three are:
