Malabe is a town and municipal area in the Colombo District, Sri Lanka. It is situated on the Kandy road (A1) Road about 16 km away from the centre of the commercial capital Colombo. Regarded as a modern, hi-tech, secure and prosperous city in Sri Lanka, Malabe covers (14 km²) and ranks as the 2nd largest city by size. Malabe's gross city product in 2009 was Rs19.2 billion. Malabe is a very important economic centre in Sri Lanka. Malabe City is the leading center of Education..IT, banking, finance and communications in the Sri Lanka.
