From nopal +‎ -ery (suffix forming nouns indicating places of arts, crafts, または practices), modelled after French nopalerie.^[1] Nopal is borrowed from Spanish nopal, from Classical Nahuatl nohpalli (“cactus of the genus Opuntia”), from Proto-Uto-Aztecan [Term?].
