Ava Muhammad (born 1951 in Columbus, Ohio) is a American Muslim. She is a prominent member of the Nation of Islam. She is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, in 1975. She is a member of the New York Bar Association. A Lawyer, Minister and also the National Spokesperson for the Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam. Ava Muhammad is the first women Minister in the history of the NOI. "Perhaps the most visible contemporary example of female activism is the work of Minister Ava Muhammad, appointed in August 2000 as the national spokesperson for Minister Farrakhan." She is the first woman to serve in this position within the Nation of Islam. She is the first member of the Nation of Islam to be ordained as a minister, with Donna Farrakhan Muhammad and three others being ordained later.
