Colwall Stone, a large piece of limestone, stands in the centre of this big and sprawling village set on the wooded western slopes of the Malvern Hills. According to one legend a giant who lived in a cave beneath the nearby Herefordshire Beacon hurled the stone at his beautiful but faithless wife, killing her on the spot. Another version says that the stone was put there by the Devil, and that each midnight the stone turns around. No one, however, has seen this happen.
