     Islands in the Ussuri River, which forms the border between Chinese Manchuria and the Soviet Union's Maritime Territory are disputed. Presumably Damansky Island, near Nizhnemikhailovka, 140 miles south of Khabarovsk, is one of the disputed islands.

     The suggestion implicit in the Russian version of the Damansky fighting is that the Soviet guards were killed as a result of Chinese deceit and trickery, the sort of thing one would expect of an Oriental.
