語源

From Sabus, eponym of the Sabines, Italic tribal name from Proto-Italic *saβs, *saβn-iyo-, *saβnyom- (compare Oscan 𐌔𐌀𐌚𐌉𐌍𐌉𐌌 (safinim), Latin Samnium and the Samnōnēs), from an uncertain Proto-Indo-European root, possibly *sebʰ-, *sₔ- (one's own), or a derivative of *swé (self). Compare the Germanic tribe name *Swēbaz (one of the Suēbī), which may have a similar etymology. Or, from a substrate element *sab-; compare the Sabellī.
