語源

Maybe a denominal to a noun Proto-Italic *molkā-, from the same ultimate source as mulceō (I caress, stroke).

発音

動詞

mulcō (present infinitive mulcāre, perfect active mulcāvī, supine mulcātum); first conjugation

  1. to beat up, handle roughly
Synonyms: tangō, percutiō, pellō, discutiō, pulsō, tundō, accidō, affligō, percellō, impingō, icō
  2. (of inanimate things) to damage, injure
Synonyms: feriō, sauciō, īnfestō, verberō, vulnerō, secō, noceō, laedō

Conjugation

At least one use of the Old Latin "sigmatic future" and "sigmatic aorist" tenses is attested, which are used by Old Latin writers; most notably Plautus and Terence. The sigmatic future is generally ascribed a future or future perfect meaning, while the sigmatic aorist expresses a possible desire ("might want to").
