  1. (in an oil well) The amount of force that must be exerted on a pipe to pull it upward, above and beyond its own weight, due to drag and other forces.
  2. (engineering) The driver for a pump that has the eccentrics above or beside the gear wheel.
  3. The act of pulling too much.
