From self- +‎ report. Sense 2 was coined by players of Among Us, in which the impostor can report the body of another player they have just killed, as if having just discovered it guiltlessly.

2. (informal) Something said by someone with the purpose of conveying a neutral stance on a subject but unintentionally leading to that person's bias being revealed.
