trigger point (plural trigger points)

1. An event, arrangement, provocation, etc. that leads a certain, generally violent or angered, action to be taken.

   Synonyms: trigger, provocation

   The unbalanced terms of the treaty was a trigger point for the war.

   Me wanting to spend time with other people is a big trigger point for him.

2. A hyperirritable spot in the skeletal muscle; a point in tender muscle that tends to elicit pain upon pressure or touch.
