     A brilliant and picturesque scene of such comastic ὕβρις is given by Herondas in the dicastic harangue of the Πορνοβοσκός, the low pander who, in spite of consciousness of his despised trade, pleads for justice against the violence of one who has set fire to his door-frame, broken in his door, beaten soundly the pander himself, and maltreated one of his girls.
