Komenox sg or pl

1. (historical) Tribal group of the Lekwiltok, assimilated with the Wei Wai Kum in the 19th century.

     Very little is known about the Komenox. Even the early relationship of the Komenox to the other Lekwiltok tribes is uncertain, although they were probably, as the name suggests, of Comox origin. James Smith stated that the Komenox were “a nation with ways of its own, which once lived between the Kwawkewlth and the Coast Salish but was neither one, yet was much like both in some ways” (Duff Papers, file 89).
