mesosystem (plural mesosystems)

1. A system of interconnections between the microsystems in an individual's life, such as interactions between a child's family and teachers.

     He called this a process-person-context model and categorized the context as consisting of four interrelated and interacting parts: the microsystem, i.e. face to face social interactions such as with family, friends, neighbours and school; the mesosystem, the interactions between groups categorized by the microsystems such as age, for example, adolescents and parents; the ecosystem, which is the local community or authority to which the adolescent belongs, i.e. the school, the locality in which they live and the workspace, and finally, the macrosystem, which is the entire system in which the adolescent exists and encompasses social mores and economic values and defines and legislates adolescent status and rights.
