Either borrowed from Ancient Greek τύρρις (túrrhis) (Hesychius), τύρσις (túrsis), itself from a Mediterranean substrate, or directly taken from said substrate language. In either case, borrowed alongside Oscan 𐌕𐌉𐌖𐌓𐌓𐌝 (tiurrí). Compare Ancient Greek Τυρρηνός (Turrhēnós, “Etruscan”) and the tribe Taurini.
